When Women Say They Feel “Dead Inside” in the Season of Sovereignty
There are videos and conversations where women describe their journey through the season of sovereignty with the words “I feel dead inside.” At first, these words may sound bleak, yet they carry a truth that deserves attention rather than silence. This experience is not weakness, nor is it a personal failing. It is a very real stage in a profound passage.

The Biological Grounding
As hormones shift, the brain and body recalibrate. Estrogen and progesterone directly influence serotonin, dopamine, and other mood-regulating chemicals. When they rise and fall unpredictably, or settle into lower rhythms, feelings of emptiness can surface. The adrenals often strain to carry what the ovaries once did, and if they are already burdened by years of stress, exhaustion can deepen the void. The nervous system itself may feel flat, as though the spark of aliveness has dimmed.

The Emotional Undercurrent
For many, this season brings the unraveling of old identities. Roles of mother, caregiver, partner, achiever may lose their familiar weight. Grief that has been tucked away can come forward. It is common to feel like life has pressed pause, leaving a hollow space where joy once lived.

The Gift Inside the Numbness
That emptiness can actually be a form of psychic protection. When the nervous system is overwhelmed, it can enter a state of freeze, creating numbness as a shield. The psyche softens the edges of pain so the heart is not flooded all at once. On an energetic level, this stage feels like entering a cocoon. Old patterns dissolve while the field reorganizes.

When I speak of the field, I mean the living energetic environment that surrounds and interpenetrates the body. It is the subtle atmosphere of you. The field holds emotional memory, ancestral imprinting, nervous system signals, and spiritual resonance. Some describe it as the biofield or electromagnetic field, others as the aura or luminous body. You sense it when you feel someone’s presence before they speak, or when you walk into a room and instantly pick up on tension or ease.

During the season of sovereignty, this field is in motion. Energy that once flowed toward fertility and outward roles turns inward. It begins to weave itself into wisdom, sovereignty, and spiritual clarity. The hollow, quiet place that feels lifeless is not absence at all. It is a protective cocoon where the field safely reorganizes into a design that matches who you are becoming.

The Spiritual Passage
The season of sovereignty carries the archetype of death and rebirth. It is the closing of one cycle and the opening of another. The “dead inside” sensation mirrors the cocoon stage, the dark stillness before emergence. With the field drawing inward, reproductive power reroutes into intuition, creativity, and vision. This shift can feel disorienting before it feels empowering.

Why Culture Makes It Harder
Modern society praises youth, productivity, and surface vitality. The elder feminine, with her depth and sovereignty, often goes unrecognized. Without cultural mirrors of reverence, many feel invisible during this passage. The emptiness grows heavier when it is met with silence or shame instead of acknowledgment.

Walking Through the Void
The “dead inside” stage is not the end. It is a threshold. On the other side, many discover clarity, authority, and an aliveness rooted in self rather than in the approval of others.

A Living Invitation
If you have felt that hollow space, you are not alone. That pause, that emptiness, is the very soil from which a deeper form of aliveness grows. It is the call into sovereignty. It is not the end of you. It is the rebirth of you.
